Abstract
This study aimed to identify the role of educational media in supporting national affiliation among universities students in Gaza governorates, through answering the following questions and checking the truth of the following hypotheses
Question 1: What are the conditions of educational media at Palestinian universities in the governorates of Gaza?
Question 2: To what extent do university students participate in educational media activities at Palestinian universities in the governorates of Gaza?
Question 3: To what extent is educational media able to prescribe national values among students of Palestinian universities in the governorates of Gaza?
Question 4: To what extent do university students commit to national values prescribed by educational media at Palestinian universities in the governorates of Gaza?
The first hypothesis: There are no statistically indicative differences at the level of indicator (α ≤ 0.05) with regard to the commitment of university students to national values prescribed by educational media, according to the variable of gender
The second hypothesis: There are no statistically indicative differences at the level of indicator (α ≤ 0.05) with regard to the commitment of university students to national values prescribed by educational media, according to the variable of university
The third hypothesis: There are no statistically indicative differences at the level of indicator (α ≤ 0.05) with regard to the commitment of university students to national values prescribed by educational media, according to the variable of study level
The fourth hypothesis: There are no statistically indicative differences at the level of indicator (α ≤ 0.05) with regard to the commitment of university students to national values prescribed by educational media, according to the variable of students’ political affiliation
The fifth hypothesis: There are no statistically indicative differences at the level of indicator (α ≤ 0.05) with regard to the commitment of university students to national values prescribed by educational media, according to the variable of media means
The researcher used the analytical - descriptive methodology. He has formed a questionnaire, with (102) items. The questionnaire consists of three sections, each of which focused on one of the media means at universities (celebration, forum and magazine) Each section includes the four domains of the study, which represent the questions of the study
The population of the study consisted of students of the first and fourth level at Al-Azhar University, the Islamic University, Al-Aqsa University and Al-Quds Open University, who are registered in 2005-2006, whose number is (31749) , (17285) males and (14464) females. The sample of the study was a stratified random sample consisted of (954) male and female students
For statistical analysis purposes, the researcher used the following statistical methods: arithmetic means, standard deviations, percentages, t-test, the analysis of variance Sheffe test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, Spearman’s correlation coefficient, one-way Anova, and some other statistical equations
Through statistical analyses of data, the following results are reached
Educational media activities take into consideration the tendencies and interests of students at (76.4%) , these activities focus on national issues at (82.73%) , they create competition among student bodies at (80.66%) , and they contribute to political affiliation at (80.73%). The study concludes also that educational information activities reflect a positive view of the university at (74.13%) , student bodies have equal opportunities to carry out media activities at (62.53%) , and the administrations of universities monitor media activities at (70.2%)
The participation of students in educational media activities at Palestinian universities in the governorates of Gaza is estimated at (71.2%)
Educational media has the ability to prescribe national values among students of Palestinian universities in the governorates of Gaza at (77.8%)
Students commit to national values prescribed by educational media at Palestinian universities in the governorates of Gaza at (70.4%)
There are statistical indicative differences with regard to the commitment of university students to national values prescribed by the educational media at Palestinian universities in the governorates of Gaza in favor to males in the sections of fora and magazines, whereas no differences are found in the section of celebrations
There are statistical indicative differences with statistical implications with regard to the commitment of students to national values prescribed by the educational media at Palestinian universities in the governorates of Gaza, according to the university variable There are statistical indicative differences with regard to the commitment of students to national values prescribed by the educational media at Palestinian universities in the governorates of Gaza, according to the variable of study level
There are statistical indicative differences with regard to the commitment of university students to national values prescribed by the educational media, according to the variable of political affiliation
There are no statistical indicative differences with regard to the commitment of university students to national values prescribed by educational media, according to the variable of media means
The study concludes the following recommendations: Cooperation among student bodies should be encouraged to carry out joint media activities, especially in political occasions, in order to end the party intolerance increasingly spreading in the Palestinian society
Student bodies should pay more attention in its media activities to issues related to the public order, the rule of law, protection of public property and support for national products
More attention should be given to media activities in various cultural fields with good preparation and selection of their subjects
The message of media activities carried out by student bodies should focus on issues that serve the society and confront negative phenomena that threaten the unity of our people
Moral and educational commitment in the public media should be enhanced in order to protect the cultural identity of the society from the dangers of imported cultures The Palestinian media should be devoted to develop all field of human knowledge to conform to the universal development Specialized educational programs in the Palestinian media should be increased
Capacity building of Palestinian media institutions should be enhanced
Cooperation and coordination among public educational institutions, cultural institutions in the society and media institutions should be promoted to enrich media programs and allow them to play a major role in social education
Cultural and didactic programs designed for the youth should be increased, as the youth represent one of the largest segments of the Palestinian society, and have a major role in serving, developing and realizing the national goals of the society {.... توقيع أ/ محمد عطية أبو فودة ....} | |
